2027: Continuous ignorant of hardship’ll lead to APC downfall, says Ohaneze

Ohaneze Ndigbo Thursday said President Tinubu’s continues ignorance of the hunger, insecurity and hardship in the country would lead the All-Progressive Council to doom come the 2027 general election.
The Igbo group in a statement signed by its Deputy President General Okechukwu Isiguzoro said that “All Progressives Congress (APC)may face considerable peril in the upcoming 2027 elections if nothing is done to ameliorate hunger, hardship others in the country.
The statement reads, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the foremost sociocultural organization representing the interests of the Igbo people, feels an irrevocable duty to convey a pressing and uncomfortable truth to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“It is imperative to recognize that the All-Progressives Congress (APC) faces considerable peril in the upcoming 2027 elections if the Federal Government continues to ignore the alarming realities of extreme poverty, widespread hardship, and escalating insecurity. Urgent action is required to address the fundamental problems that plague the Nigerian populace.
“Mr. President, the citizens of Nigeria are overwhelmed and disillusioned. If their grievances go unheeded, they may rise against your administration through the ballot box in 2027. The Federal Government must acknowledge the harsh realities of escalating insecurity, relentless hunger, and extreme poverty, which have reached alarming and unbearable levels.
“The relentless tide of these issues will significantly impede the efforts of all 36 State Governors to secure your re-election. Many of these Governors offer nothing but false assurances, promising to deliver their states to the APC while living in a “fool’s paradise.” Meanwhile, some Northern Governors, in particular, are engaging in deceptive tactics that could undermine your political future.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo asserts that President Tinubu possesses a unique opportunity to redeem his administration before it is too late. To regain the confidence of the Nigerian people, it is crucial to adopt revolutionary policies that directly address their pressing needs.
“Trusting in the goodwill of Governors who have failed to resolve the nations’ core issues may lead to significant political repercussions during the elections.
“We strongly advise Mr. President to circumvent the 36 State Governors and actively engage with the suffering masses those impoverished Nigerians who are most affected by the current political and economic malaise. The Governors, often mired in self-interest, contribute to the ongoing economic woes and insecurity that ail the nation.
“Furthermore, it is necessary to emphasize that the anticipated benefits from the removal of the fuel subsidy which resulted in notably increased federal allocations to the states have yet to be felt by the average Nigerian.
“Additionally, the Supreme Court’s verdict on local government autonomy, which was intended to alleviate the burdens of the populace, is being sabotaged by those entrusted to implement it. Even the proposed introduction of several new tax reform bills is poised for similar obstruction if the current dynamics persist.
“In light of these realities, President Tinubu must prioritize resolving the intertwined crises of hunger, poverty, and insecurity to transform the psyche and perceptions of the Nigerian people. Failure to do so will render any electoral ambitions for 2027 futile, as the false assurances provided by the Governors will not mask the prevailing calamities facing the citizens.
“Nigerians are justifiably angry and hungry, grappling with exorbitant living costs, soaring food prices, and unreasonable electricity tariffs. Access to affordable housing and adequate healthcare remains a distant hope for many. These factors represent formidable obstacles to any campaign aimed at securing your re-election.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo urges you to be wary of the prospect that Northern Governors may ultimately disappoint you in the 2027 elections by aligning themselves with their constituents who feel aggrieved by your administration.
“In contrast, Southern Governors will likely navigate a disarrayed political landscape that places their immediate survival at odds with their support for your agenda. This division will create an uphill battle for those tasked with securing your patronage in their states.
Therefore, it is vital for you to act decisively: lower electricity tariffs, revamp your economic advisory teams, eliminate extraneous expenditures, and invest significantly in agriculture and infrastructure. Furthermore, consider emulating progressive young leaders, like Captain Toure of Burkina Faso, who empower their agricultural sectors with resources and incentives conducive to food production and security.
In conclusion, the status quo is untenable. Unless immediate and effective measures are taken to address these critical issues, the specter of political upheaval looms large”.
