60th anniversary: NDA fetes honours Prof Adam Okene Ahmed Abere, with Long Service Award

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has honoured Professor Adam Ahmed Abere for his outstanding long service award.
The prestigious military institution was established in February 1964.
He expressed his gratitude to the Current Commandant, Maj Gen J O Ochai for the award.
Prof. Ahmed Abere, in a post on his X (twitter) handle expressed joy at the honour, as according to him, coming from Africa’s top military university, the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna makes it dear to him.
The Professor of Security History, Conflict Resolution and International Studies, is not a stranger to receiving awards.
Prof. Ebere served the institution in several capacities which includes, Head Dept of History & War Studies, Dean PG School, Director, Directorate of Linkages & Collaboration, and Acting Academy Provost.
In addition, he chaired most of the standing committes, including Examination Malpractices, Restructuring of Academy Registry, POP/Convocation, A&PC Promotion, Establishment of Faculty of Military Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies (FMIS), Stellenborsch University, South Africa, Institute of Critical Thinking California, United States of America.
He has also served in many capacities both at national and international levels. He was the North Central Coordinator of Presidential Research Committee during President Obasanjo’s administration.
Due to his contribution to nation building, President Yar’adua appointed him to Police Reform Committee that established the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil Kano. He also led the Committee on NEEDS assessment to part of South South Universities, and chaired several Nigerian University Commission’s (NUC) Accreditation Panel to Universities across the country and was at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) where he taught and researched.
He has helped to trained members of Regular Combatant of the Armed Forces at both undergraduate and graduate levels for over 3 decades.
Professor Abere is currently the College Provost at the National Defence College, Abuja, Nigeria.
