ACG Orbih urges discipline, compliance during visit to Lagos Free Zone Command

The Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone ‘A’, Assistant Controller General of Customs (ACG), Charles Orbih, has called on officers at the Lagos Free Zone Command to uphold discipline and national integrity in the discharge of their duties.
He made the call during his official visit to the command on Tuesday.
While addressing officers, the zonal coordinator emphasised the importance of maintaining strict discipline in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and national security.
He stated, “When it comes to revenue generation and trade facilitation, we must not turn our eyes to anything that will obstruct our achieving these set goals. National security is of great importance. When it comes to illicit drugs, arms and ammunition, we should not allow them in. This command must grow, make it grow.”
Following a tour of enterprises within the Zones, the ACG expressed admiration for the scale of development and the zones contribution to Nigeria’s economic transformation.
He urged businesses and investors within the zone to operate within the boundaries of the law.
“Stakeholders should play by the rules and regulations governing their existence. They should not do anything that would warrant negative questions to be asked about them. When they play by the books, definitely they will grow, and other would be investors will gladly come to Nigeria to invest.”
In his remarks, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Olanrewaju Olumoh, highlighted the command’s commitment to operational excellence and inter-agency cooperation.
“We are very much committed to operational excellence both at the port and in the free trade zones. We have regular stakeholders’ engagement, and through that, we were able to provide listening ears to concerns and challenges of our stakeholders, and we do our best to ensure that those concerns are speedily addressed.”
Comptroller Olumoh reported remarkable achievements in revenue generation and cargo clearance efficiency.
“As at yesterday, we have already generated ₦174 billion, and by the grace of the Almighty God, we are optimistic about a potentially beautiful fiscal year. We are blessed with very dedicated officers and with that, we have been able to record very speedy cargo clearance in our port, within one day.”
The CAC reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to national security, emphasising the importance of continued collaboration with sister agencies to safeguard the nation’s borders.
