Act within the law, Federal Lawmaker tell journalists

The federal Lawmaker representing Afikpo and Edda federal constituency of Ebonyi state in the House of Representative, Home. Iduma Igariwey weekend advised journalists to always play safe using the judiciary.
Igariwey who double as the vice chairman House committee on appropriation disclosed this during celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Sam Egwu NUJ Press Center Abakaliki.
The lawmaker commended journalists especially on their ability to checkmate those in authority.
“NUJ is the conscience of this our great Nation. Without the NUJ holding government accountable the government will not be what it should be.
Advising journalists on safety in the face of challenges he told them to resort to the judiciary in order to protect their right.
“That is why we have the judiciary, you must act within the law, so whenever office holders stray away from confines of acting within the law the judiciary will always be there to act. So, you as enlightened as you should be should also know your right in the Nigerian Constitution.
The third time lawmaker commended the peaceful atmosphere of the state and said,
“My position on this state government is very well known. I am of PDP, but I support this government; I support it very vigorously. Let me use that word because I think they are following the right path.
“Time was when you would have invited me to this occasion, and I won’t be here. But I am here today because the atmosphere in the state is very peaceful, the area is calm, and people are free to go about their businesses”, Igariwey stated.
