ADB, GSA sign deal to open green data centre in Thailand
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) says it has signed a loan of 900 million baht (about $27.8m) with GSA Data Centre 01 Company Limited (GSA).
The ADB Country Director for Thailand, Anouj Mehta said this on Monday in Manila.
He said the loan would be used to fund the development, construction, and operation of a 25.6-megawatt colocation green data centre in Thailand.
“This is ADB’s first lending in the data centre sector in Thailand, and in the region as well.
“As the demand for digital services grows, it is crucial to prioritise energy efficiency and renewable energy sources in this sector to significantly reduce our carbon footprint.
“It will support environmental goals and pave the way for a greener and more resilient digital infrastructure,” the country director said.
Founded in 2022, GSA is a joint venture of Gulf Development, one of Thailand’s largest independent power producers.
It is scheduled to begin commercial operations by 2025.
