Apapa Customs strengthens synergy with Nigerian Navy to secure maritime trade

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has strengthened its operational partnership with the Nigerian Navy to deepen maritime security and support seamless trade along the Apapa port corridor.
According to a press release issued on 26, February 2026, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs, Isah Sulaiman, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha.
The CAC appreciated the Navy for securing Nigeria’s waters, stating, “No vessel can come into the country without safe waters. We commend you for keeping the maritime environment secure.”
He also solicited sustained support along the Apapa port corridor to ensure seamless cargo movement.
In his response, Rear Admiral Mustapha acknowledged the longstanding partnership between both agencies, emphasising, “Port security is about inter-agency and coordination. Without security, there is no development.”
The FOC also lauded the performance of NCS under CGC Adeniyi, highlighting its role in blocking revenue leakages and surpassing national revenue targets.
He pledged the Navy’s support in ensuring seamless cargo movement and securing the maritime domain.
