In a splendid display, Transcorp Hilton heralded the Christmas and Yuletide seasons with the light-up of the hotel Thursday in Abuja.

The light up ceremony which was marked with melodious Christmas carols was well attended by staff, customers and members of the general public.

The ceremony is part of Transcorp’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Speaking at the event, Managing Director/CEO of Transcorp Hotels PLC Dupe Olusola said the occasion marked the beginning of Christmas for the hotel.

According to the Managing Director, its an opportunity to appreciate its loyal guests adding that the hotel wants to “give people the opportunity to enter into the Christmas season with us

“We want people to just come into this space and be happy and just have that feeling of warm thanksgiving, celebration and appreciation of going through the entire year.”

Olusola said it was also a means to give back to its loyal customers and communities.

She said that the hotel would be using the opportunity that the season avails to reach out to the indigent and less privileged in the society.

“For every guest that comes into the hotel, the bars of soap that we use don’t just throw it away, we recycle it, put it back together and give it back to the community. The same thing we do with food as well. So, there are different programmes. We also actually put back 10 per cent of our profit before tax and invest in entrepreneurship across Nigeria, not just this community,” she said.

On his part, Hotel Manager Transcorp Hilton Abuja Islam ElMaddah, disclosed that over the years, families have been reunited through its various programmes during yuletide periods.

According to him, the Christmas village continues to attract huge patronage from within and outside Abuja.

“It’s not only to entertain the adults but it’s meant for kids because Christmas is about family and it’s meant for kids. It’s a good strategy to have this kind of thing inside the hotel. I can tell you the number of families coming to visit the hotel during Christmas-massive number-not only from Nigeria but family union is happening here,” he said.
