Domestic equities market gain N283bn on heavyweight stocks rally
The Nigerian equities market sustained its bullish trajectory into the fourth trading session of the week, gaining N247 billion.
Market capitalization of listed equities up by 0.25 per cent to N114.660 trillion from N114.377 trillion reported on Monday.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 441.28 basis points to 178625.63 points from 178184.35 it closed on Wednesday.
The advance was driven by gains recorded in the mid cap and blue chip stocks such as MTN Nigeria, GTCO Plc, Cap Plc , Zenith Bank , UBA, DeapCapital among others.
The market breath was positive with 45 gainers against 35 decliners, bringing year to date return to 14.79 per cent.
The volume of trades declined by 240.811 million, representing 25.64 per cent as investors traded 698.342 million shares against 939.153 million reported the previous day.
Value of transactions went down by 16.44 per cent to settle at N28.438 billion from N34.032 billion recorded previously in 50886 deals.
An analysis of the investment showed that Deapcapital, RTBriscoe and SeplatEnergy led gainers table with 10 per cent each to close at N8.69 , N15.84 and N8107.00 per unit respectively. Zichis followed with a gain of 9.97 per cent to close at N9.82 per unit, Daar Communications added 9.96 per cent to close at N2.76 per share.
On the contrary, Nahco Plc topped losers chart, dropping by 9.98 per cent to close at N148.45 per unit, Abbey Building Society trailed with a loss of 9.98 per cent to close at N11.20 per share, Eterna Plc dipped by 9.50 per cent to close at N30 per unit, May and. Baker sheds 9.19 per cent to close at N40.50 per unit, ETI declined by 8.72 per cent to close at N45.00 per share.
Access Holdings company led market activities with 52.050 million shares valued at N1.248 billion, Zenith Bank followed with account 42.524 million shares worth N3.314 billion, Tantalizer traded 42.133 million shares cost N253.848 million, GTCO Plc exchanged 40.778 million shares cost N4.337 billion and Deap Capital sold a total of 34.414 million shares valued at N298.075 million.
