Ebonyi gov, Nwifuru reshuffles cabinet

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State Tuesday reshuffled his cabinet.
This was as he redeployed the information commissioner Engr. Jude Okpor to rural development ministry and Barr Ikeuwa C. Omebeh who was there to the information ministry.
The Governor also redeployed Prof Paul Awo Nwobasi from the ministry of Education (Primary and Secondary to the Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution and Dr Donatus Ilang has been moved to the ministry to Border Peace and conflict ministry.
The new commissioner for information and state orientation, Bar. Ikeuwa Omebe disclosed this to journalists during a press briefing on the outcome of Monday executive council meeting.
Omebe quoted the Governor to have given the reason for the cabinet reshuffle as “enhancing the administration’s effectiveness in delivering its promises to the people”.
“The governor urged members of the council to reflect on their stewardship and redirect their focus on the vision and mission of the present administration, as encapsulated in the People’s Charter of Needs manifesto”. The cabinet reshuffle is expected to promote good governance and accountability in the state.
He also noted that governor Nwifuru to gave the Commissioners of Environment Victor Chukwu and that of Education (Tertiary) Prof. Amari Omaka 3 month to seat up in their various Ministries or face punitive measures.
On improving power and energy in the state, Omebe said, “Exco approved the supply and installation of Independent Captive Power Generation Plants to give 24hour metered electric power to specific public and private industries/institutions in the state.
The project is to commence with one unit of the plant that will generate three Megawatts and sited at ICT University Oferekpe, Agbaja.
“Exco approved the participation of Ebonyi State in the E-HEART project of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the subsequent payment of counterpart funding for the project. E-HEART is an acronym that stands for Energy for Health, Education,Agriculture, Rural Development,and Transportation”.
