Equities’ market gain N111bn

The domestic equity market on Tuesday sustained growth trend, appreciating by N111 billion
Market capitalization of listed equities increased by 0.12 per cent to N92.405 trillion from N92.294 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 175.12 basis points to 146055.89 points from 145880.77 points recorded on Monday.
The market breath was positive with 49 companies closing in green against 29 decliners, bringing year to date return to 41.90 per cent.
Volume of trades declined by N838.0 million, representing 39.62 per cent to settle at 1.277 billion against 2.115 billion in the previous day, while the value of trades surged by 4.955 billion or 25.54 per cent to N24.354 billion in 31155 deals.
An analysis of the trading during the day showed that EllahLakes, ABC Transport and Champion Breweries recorded 10 per cent gain each to close at N16.06 , N4.95 and 17.38 per unit respectively, Prestige insurance and TIP also added 10 per cent to close respectively at N2.20 and N14.52 Kobo .On the country, Juli Pharmaceutical Chemist topped losers chart, dropping by 10 per cent to close at N9.00, Unilever Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss of 9.97 per cent to close at N71.30, Custodian Insurance dipped by 9.55 per cent to close at N37.90, Academy press fell by 7.78 per cent to close at N8.30 per unit, May and Baker declined by 7.69 per cent to close at N18.00.
Transactions in the shares of Lasaco Insurance led market activities with 107.215 million shares worth N439.209 million, Japaul Gold followed with 106.899 million shares cost N302.654 million, Sterling Bank traded 97.834 million shares valued at N784.451 million, AIICO Insurance traded 64.991 million shares cost N273.369 million while Access Holdings company exchanged 61.090 million shares valued at N1.
