Equities market gains N745bn
The domestic equities market on Monday sustained its positive trajectory, gaining N745 billion as bulls dominated trading activities during the day.
Market capitalisation of listed equities added 0.72 per cent to N104.520 trillion from N103.775 trillion it closed on Friday.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 946.61 basis points to 163244.69 points from 162298.08 points reported the previous day.
The market rally during the day driven by gains in the shares of Aradel Plc, NCR, IMG, Access Holdings company, GTCO Plc and other 44 companies.
The market breath was positive with 49 gainers against 20 decliners, bringing year to date return to 4.90 per cent.
Volume of trades up by 524.921 million, representing 84.11 per cent as investors traded 1.149 billion shares against 624.079 million traded on Friday. Valued of transactions increased by 3.83 per cent to settle at N19.233 billion in 59359 deals.
An analysis of the investment showed that UPDC and Mcnichols closed in positive performance gained 10 per cent each to close at N5.50 and N6.05 per unit respectively. Etranzact and Red Starex also added 10 per cent to close respectively at N16.50 and N11.55 per unit.
On the contrary, Champion Breweries topped losers chart dropping by 8.51 per cent to close at N15.05 per unit, Eunisell trailed with a loss of 8.01 per cent to close at N156.20 per unit, Guinea Insurance down by 7.30 per cent to close at N1.27 per unit, Chams Plc fell by 3.50 per cent to close at N3.86 per share while Omatek declined by 3.13 per cent to close at N1.24 per unit
The trading for the day showed Sovereign Trust Insurance led market activities with 306.421 million shares valued at N997.631 million shares cost N997.631 million, Fidelity Bank followed with account of 157.170 million shares cost N3.115 billion, Linkage Assurance traded 92.173 million shares worth N165.899 million, Mutual Benefits traded 30.955 million shares valued at N128.222 million while Lasaco Insurance exchanged 30.842 million shares worth N79.168 million.
