Equity market gains N3bn
Trading on the floor of Nigerian Exchange, NGX Monday opened on a positive note, gaining N3 billion.
Market capitalisation of listed equities added 0.002 per cent to N105.962 trillion from N105.959 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also increased by 5.38 basis points to 165517.56 points from 165512.18 points traded on Friday.
The positive performance was driven by gains in the shares of SkyAVN, Scoa Plc, UHomreit, Nigerian Breweries Nahco among others, bringing year to date return to 6.38 per cent
The market breath was negative with 36 decliners against 35 gainers.
Volume of trades declined by 130.021 million, representing 17.77 per cent as investors traded 601.647 million shares against 731.668 million traded previously. Value of trades also went down by 9.16 per cent to N17.303 billion against N19.047 billion in 58429 deals.
An analysis of the investment showed that NPF Micro Finance Bank led gainers table with 10 per cent to close at N5.61 per share, Morrison followed with a gain of 9.97 per cent to close at N8.27 per unit, Uhomreit added 9.95 per cent to close at N78.45 per share, Deap Capital gained 9.94 per cent to close at N7.85 per share, Scoa up by 9.87 per cent to close at N26.15 per share.
On the contrary, May and Baker topped losers’ chart, dropping by 10 per cent to close at N39.15 per unit, Neimeth international Pharmaceutical trailed with a loss of 9.81 per cent to close at N11.95 per share, ABC Transport dipped by 9.33 per cent to close at N5.15 per unit, CWG declined by 9.33 per cent to close at N22.10 per share while Sovereign Trust Insurance fell by 8.97 per cent to close at N3.45 per unit.
Transactions in the shares of Chams Plc led market activities with 39.543 million shares valued at N199.530 million, AccessCorp followed with account of 34.302 million shares valued at N767.443 million, GTCO Plc traded 31.555 million shares cost N3.108 billion.
Guineas insurance sold a total of 24.909 million shares worth N33.054 million while NSLTech exchanged 22.266 million shares valued at N21.724 million.
