Equity market gains N98bn
The domestic equity market on Tuesday sustained a growth trajectory, gaining N98 billion as bulls dominated the trading activities during the day.
Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.15 per cent to N64.889 trillion from N64.791 trillion recorded the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 158.05 basis points to 104788.35 points from 104630.30 points traded on Monday.
The positive performance was driven by gains in the shares of Betaglass, Northern Nigeria Flour Mills, Universal insurance and 35 other companies.
The year to date return went up to 1.81 per cent as 38 companies closed in green against 23 firms that took negative directions.
A review of the investment showed that Universal insurance and Redstarex led gainers table with 10 per cent each to close at N0.66 and N5.50 per share respectively. Betaglass and Northern Nigeria Flour Mills followed with a gain of 9.98 per cent each to close respectively at N86.50 and 73.30 per unit, Chellaram Plc gained 9.89 per cent to close at N7.89 per share.
On the contrary, Ikeja Hotel recorded the highest loss during the day, shedding 9.55 per cent to close at N9.95 per unit, NEM Insurance trailed with a loss of 6.59 per cent to close at N12.05 per unit, SUNU Assurance dipped by 6.14 per cent to close at N5.35 per share, Conhall Plc declined by 5.97 per cent to close at N3.15 per share Royal Express sheds 3.03 per cent to close at N0.96 per unit.
Volume of transactions declined by 38.862 million, representing 7.61 per cent as investors traded 471.707 million shares valued at N19.889 billion in 14600 deals against 510.569 million shares worth N13.253 billion in 14611 deals.
FBNHoldings led market activities with 83.078 million shares valued at N2.425 billion, Zenith Bank followed with account of 29.523 million shares worth N1.452 billion, Universal insurance traded 24.207 million shares cost N15.768 million, UACN traded 21.225 million shares cost N702.760 million, GTCO Plc exchanged 20.215 million shares cost N1.236 billion.
