Equity market rebounds, gains N306bn
The domestic equities’ market on Thursday turned positive, appreciating by N306 billion.
Gains recorded in the shares of Aradel Plc,Oando Plc, Vitafoam, Dangote Sugar, FBNHoldings UBA Zenith Bank and others impacted positively on the market.
Market capitalization of listed equities thus increased by 0.51 per cent to N59.275 trillion from N58.969 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 487.25 basis points to 97783.81 points from 97296.57 points traded on Wednesday.
As a result, year to date return went up by 30.77 per cent as 28 companies closed in green against 29 firms that depreciated in price.
An analysis of the investment showed that Vitafoam Nigeria Plc led gainers& table with 9.81 per cent to close at N23.50 per unit, Aradel Plc followed 9.23 per cent to close at N517.00 per share, FTNCocoa added 7.82 per cent to close at N1.93 per unit, Sovereign Trust Insurance up 6.25 per cent to close at N0.68 per unit, Oando Plc gained 5.40 per cent to close at N65.35 per share.
On the contrary, Prestige insurance topped losers’ chart, dropping by 10.00 per cent to close at N0.81 per unit, Unilever Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of 9.97 per cent to close at N26.65 per unit, Austinlaz down by 9.96 per cent to close at N2.17 per share, JohnHolt dipped by 9.90 per cent to close at N8.92 per unit, Eterna Plc down by 6.94 per cent to close at N20.80 per share.
Volume trades declined by 189.721 million representing 10.81 per cent as investors traded 632.741 million shares worth N10.811 billion in 8404 deals against 822.462 million shares cost N10.285 billion in 9385 deals.
FBNHoldings led market activities with 166.763; million shares valued at N4.184 billion, HMCall followed with account of 119.297 million shares valued at N669.808 million, Guinea Insurance traded. 41.316 million shares cost N20.733 million, Cutix Plc traded 38.530 million shares valued at N90.529 million while AccessCorp exchanged 20.573 million shares valued at N473.624 million.
