FG warns of possible flooding in 18 Northern states

The Federal Ministry of Environment has warned of possible flooding in 18 states following forecasts of heavy rainfall.
In a statement issued by the Director of Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone-Management Department, Usman Abdullahi Bokani, at the weekend, high-risk areas include: Adamawa, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Niger, Taraba, Jigawa, Yobe, Zamfara, Sokoto, Borno and Kwara, with towns such as Jimeta, Mubi, Keffi, Kafanchan, Birnin Kebbi, Minna, Gusau and Sokoto on the watchlist.
He urged residents and state agencies to take urgent steps to safeguard lives and property.
The ministry’s appeal for prompt feedback from stakeholders to enable a swift and coordinated response to any flooding incidents.
