Fibre cuts, vandalism, power outages affecting quality of services – NCC

Data from the National Communications Commission (NCC) website revealed that between March 7 and April 10, 2026, Mobile Network Operators – Airtel, Glo, MTN, 9Mobile, and Smile experienced major outages across their operations.

There has been massive outcry by telecoms users across Nigeria over poor network services culminating in the Commission directing service providers to refund customers for dropped calls

According to the regulator on its “NCC Major Outages Portal, the incidents ranges from: Fibre Cuts, Vandalism and in some cases power outages.

The platform keeps consumers updated on significant service disruptions reported by Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

Of the active incidents, the Commission stated that: MTN, the Fibre Cut affected SMS, Voice, Data services.

MTN – Fibre Cut in Gombe, Jigawa (Akko, Balanga, Billiri, Birnin Kudu, Buji, Dutse, Gombe, Kaltungo, Kiyawa, Shongom) affecting SMS, Voice, Data services.

FibreOne – Vandalism in Lagos (Ikeja) affecting Data services.

9Mobile – Fibre Cut affecting SMS, Voice, Data services.

9Mobile – Under investigation in Adamawa, Gombe, Jigawa (Akko, Balanga, Billiri, Birnin Kudu, Gombe, Gombi, Gwaram, Hong, Jada, Lamurde, Maiha, Mubi South, Nafada) affecting USSD, SMS, Voice, Data services.
