Fire at Effluent Treatment Plant contained, refinery operating – Dangote

Days after Dangote raised the alarm over threats by International Oil Companies (IOCs), part of the refinery project went up in flames Wednesday.

Source of the fire incident is not yet known at press time.

A video clip shared on X shows a section of the refinery under fire.

According to reports, workers are currently outside the section affected by the fire.

The refinery which is the world’s largest single-train refinery is owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

In swift reaction, a two paragraphs press statement by the company acknowledged there was a minor fire incident.

“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), today, Wednesday, 26th of June”.
