First lady, Remi Tinubu to commission Ebonyi Airport Friday

Ebonyi state government Thursday announced the commissioning of Chuba Okadigbo International Airport by the Wife of Nigeria President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Mrs.Tinubu is said to arrive the state on Friday via the airport after which she will commission the facility for commencement of business activities.
The airport constructed by the former governor David Umahi was virtually commissioned by the former President, Muhammadu Buhari but had some shortfalls on the runways.
Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration in the quest to get the airport to international standard injected about N17.8 billion on the rehabilitation of the Airport runway to its very standard now.
China Okadigbo Airport runway is said to be longest in the SouthEast region.
The state commissioner for Aviation and transport technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu, in a statement shortly after a courtesy call by DSS and other security operatives on routine surveillance of the Airport, said that the state government is fully prepared for the commissioning.
She said that the commissioning of the runway by the wife of the President, sen. Oluremi Tinubu will mark the recommencement of full flight operation at the airport.
Obichukwu said that the asphalted Chuba Okadigbo’s airport runway is the longest in the SouthEast region, and therefore called on travellers to come to Ebonyi to take their flight, especially in this yuletide.
The Commissioner said: “I had an audience with the DSS on routine surveillance of the international Airport Onueke in preparation for the commissioning of the ASPHALTED Runway by the wife of the President Tinubu, Senator OLUREMI TINUBU.
“Chuba Okadigbo airport has fully recommenced flight operations and we call on the general public, travelers to come here and take their flights. This is because we have the best and longest runway in the southeast region” she stressed.
She further commended the enormous efforts of the state governor, Francis Nwifuru in ensuring that the runway is completed and being of intentional standard.
