Food security: NGO empowers women in agric with N3m

A non-governmental organization SheGrowsHerFood in Ebonyi state has disclosed its decision to release a loan of 3 million naira to women groups in agriculture to encourage food sufficiency in 2025.
This is as the National Co-ordinatior of NGO Mrs. Comfort Nweke commended rural farmers in Izzi local government area of the state for returning the total sum of 7 million naira given to them for 2024 farming season.
SheGrowsHerFood is a program under the Association of Micro Credit Institution (AMCIN).
Mrs. Nweke disclosed this on Monday during the yearly prayer summit of the association at centenary city Abakaliki.
The program had co-operative societies under the association in attendance.
She however, appreciated the co-operative societies especially does working with the goals and objectives of the association.
She said, “We here to serve the masses, we are here to serve the poor masses. We are here to serve rural farmers, those people that cannot fight for themselves.
“We highly appreciate the Coordinator of Izzi Local Government Area. We deployed loan worth of N7million to rural farmers there and they returned that loan without any pressure and they did it perfectly.
“They are testifying today what we did for them. We gave them N1million each. This time around, we are going to give them N3million each so that they will use it and invest in Agriculture because what we are doing is to promote agriculture and empowering women for food security because without food, you cannot make it”, she said.
