Gombe Gov’s media aide named ‘Most Outstanding Spokesperson’

Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, has been named the Most Outstanding Spokesperson of the Year (State Category).

He got the award at the 2025 National Spokespersons Awards, organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in partnership with Image Merchants Promotions Limited and the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

According to the organisers, the award is meant for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional excellence and impact in public communications.

t the awards ceremony, held as part of a three-day summit of the NIPR, unveiled by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, Misilli was recognised for his “strategic clarity, compelling storytelling, audience engagement, and integrity”.

Misilli dedicated the award to his principal, Governor Yahaya, attributing the honour to the governor’s visionary leadership and unwavering support.

Misilli also expressed gratitude to his family, colleagues, the Government House Media Team, Press Crew and the Correspondents’ Chapel, describing the award as a shared achievement and a testament to teamwork and dedication.

The accolade builds on Misilli’s 2024 Spokesperson Gold Award, making his latest recognition a significant milestone in an already distinguished career spanning over two decades in journalism, media relations, and strategic communications.

The high-profile event was graced by eminent personalities, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and former Ministers of Information; Professor Jerry Gana, Chief John Nwodo, Mr Frank Nweke Jr., Mr Labaran Maku, and Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who shared invaluable insights during the Ministerial Clinic session of the summit.
