Hajj 2025: Lagos pilgrims perform throwing of pebbles at Jamarat
1,315 pilgrims from Lagos State have joined others presently in Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj, to perform the stoning of pebbles at the Jamarat.
This very important rituals of the holy pilgrimage takes place today, Friday (10th Dhul-Hijjah).
The pilgrims, having stopped over at Musdalifah on their way from Arafah, observed Solatul Magrib and Isha before leaving in the early hours of Friday to their tent in Mina to drop their luggage, take a brief rest before proceeding to the Jamarat for the pebbles throwing exercise.
In line with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, the exercise would run consecutively from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th Dhul-Hijjah.
During the first day (day 10) pilgrims threw seven pebbles at the last wall (father) while they would throw seven at each of the three walls (21 pebbles) on day two and three (11th and 12th) respectively.
The three walls signified the points where Prophet Ibrahim (ASW), his wife (Ajarah) and Ismail (son) rejected Satan’s persuasion for them to renege from fulfilling the promise of slaughtering Prophet Ismail for Allah’s sake.
Some of the pilgrims while reflecting on the significance of the exercise, expressed their willingness to change their ways of life by obeying Allah’s commandments and refrain from committing sins, going forward.
The State pilgrims were led by some members of the Ulamau and Hajj guides, among which were Alh. Semiu Olojeola, Alh. Idris Akanni (More Blessings) and Alh. Kehinde Ayuba, to mention just but few.
