JRB issues further clarification on Tax ID

The Joint Revenue Board (JRB) reiterates that there will be no restrictions on bank accounts or financial transactions effective 1st January 2026 due to the non-availability of Tax IDs.
In a statement signed by the Corporate Communications Department Joint Revenue Board (JRB), also assured Nigerians that no deductions will be made from any bank account on the basis of having a Tax ID or not.
The JRB explained that Tax ID will be automatically issued to every taxable person using NIN for individuals, and CAC registration number for businesses.
“Once again, there is no cause for panic as measures are being taken to ensure a seamless retrieval of Tax ID,” the statement read.
