The domestic equity market on Monday opened on a positive note, appreciating by N263 billion as gains in the shares of Transpower, Dangote Sugar, PZ Cusson boosted market activities.

Market Capitalisation of listed equities appreciated 0.29 per cent to N88.199 trillion from N87.936 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also increased 414.72 basis points to 139394.73 points from 138980.01 points traded on Friday.

The market breath for the day was positive with 40 gainers against 19 losers, bringing year to date return to 35.43 per cent.

Volume of trades declined by 870.129 million, representing 47.86 per cent as investors traded 947.871 million against 1.818 billion units traded on Friday, value of transactions increased by 12.43 per cent to N17.971 billion against N15.983 billion in 36036 deals.

A review of transactions showed that PZ Cusson and UPL led gainers table with 10 per cent each to close at N35.20 and N5.50 per unit respectively, EllahLakes followed with a gain of 9.94 per cent to close at N14.27 per unit, Legend Internet added 9.90 per cent to close at N5.44 per share, NCR gained 9.84 per cent to close at N13.95 per share.

On the contrary, four r companies closed in negative direction chart with 10 per cent. Enamel Ware, IMG, Union Dicon and Thomas Way declined by 10 per cent each to close respectively at N35.10, N33.30, N10.80 and N3.70 per share. Academy Press trailed with a loss of 9.95 per cent to close at N8.60 er share.

Trading in the shares of FCMB group led market activities with 460.948 million shares valued at N4.735 billion, Universal insurance followed with account of 42.221 million shares worth N55.391 million, Royal Express traded 35.224 million shares cost N72.498 million, Zenith Bank traded 26.733 million shares valued at N1.731 billion while FirstHoldco traded 25.906 million shares cost N791.009 million.
