Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Tuesday took negative turn, declining by N208 billion as investors continued with profit taking activities.

Market capitalization of listed equities sent down by 0.35 per cent to N58.969 trillion from N59.177 trillion reported on Monday.

The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 343.31 basis points to 97296.57 points from 97639.88 points recorded the previous day.

The poor performance of the investment during the day was driven by loss in the shares of Nigerian Breweries, HMCall Plc, Aradel Plc Eterna UPDC among others.

A review of the trading activities showed Sunu Assurance led gainers table, appreciating by 9.97 per cent to close at N4.19 per unit, Guinea Insurance followed with a gain of 8.16 per cent to close at N0.53 per unit, Conoil added 6.56 per cent to close at N276.00 per share, Daar Communications gained 6.56 per cent to close at N0.65 per share, Nascon added 6.23 per cent to close at N32.40 per unit.

On the contrary, JohnHolt topped losers’ chart, declining by 10 per cent to close at N9.90 per unit, Aradel trailed with a loss of 9.98 per cent to close at N473.30 per unit, Eterna Plc dipped by 9.88 per cent to close at N22.35 per share, HMCall dipped by 8.43 per cent to close at N5.65 per share, UPDC down by 8.13 per cent to close at N1.47 per unit.

Volume of trades increased by 270.352 million, representing 48.97 per cent as investors traded 822.462 million shares valued at N10.285 billion in 9385 deals against 552.110 million shares cost N8.031 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 9305 deals.

Trading in the shares of HMCall led market activities with 373.721 million shares valued at N2.158 billion, Japaul Gold followed with account of 115.927 million shares worth N285.524 million, Tantalizer traded 30.733 million shares cost N34.872 million, United Bank for Africa exchanged 29.439 million shares worth N930.044 million while GTCO plc traded 28.748 million shares cost N1.516 billion.
