Market capitalisation increases by 0.37%

The nation’s equity market on Monday opened the week on a positive note, appreciating by N279 billion as bulls dominated trading activities during the day.

Market Capitalization of listed equities increased by 0.37 per cent to N74.812 trillion from N74.533 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 441.43 basis points to 118579.65 points from 118138.22 points traded on Friday.
The market breath was positive with 45 gainers against 22 decliners.
The market was driven by gains in the shares of Bateglass, Presco Plc, Neimeth international Pharmaceutical and 42 other companies as the year-to-date return improved by 15.32 per cent.
An analysis of the investment showed that five companies led gainers table with 10 per cent at the closing of trading on Monday. Champion Breweries, FTNCocoa Plc gained 10 per cent each to close at N9.02 and N3.08 per share respectively. Presco Plc, Neimeth international Pharmaceutical, Betaglass increased also by 10 per cent to close respectively at N1210.00, N4.07 and N303.60 per share.
On the contrary, Julius Berger topped losers’ chart, dropping by 7.48 per cent to close at N117.50 per unit, Chams Plc trailed with a loss of 5.09 per cent to close at N2.05 per unit, NSL Tech dipped by 5.00 per cent to close at N0.57 per unit, Multiverse down by 4.66 per cent to close at N9.20 per share, Redstarex fell by 3.85 per cent to close at N7.50 per unit.
Volume of activities up by 130.84 basis points, representing 25.03 per cent as investors traded 653.656 million shares valued at N21.327 billion in 22206 deals against 522.812 million shares worth N19.684 billion in 17257 deals.
Transactions in the shares of Fidelity Bank led market activities with 141.709 million shares valued at N2.664 billion, Zenith Bank followed with account of 46.255 million shares worth at N2.347 billion, Nigerian Breweries traded 38.092 million shares valued at N2.209 billion, FTNCocoa exchanged 37.975 million shares worth N115.903 million, Access Holdings company traded 37.930 million shares cost N843.734 million.
