NGX: Volume of transaction declines by N631.168m

The volume of transactions on the floor of Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Monday declined by 631.168 million.

This represents a drop of 62.47 per cent as investors traded 379.132 million shares valued at N8.706 billion in 10096 deals against 1.0103 billion worth N21.596 billion reported the previous day in 9098 deals.

The NGX trading result showed that market capitalisation of listed equities increased by N11 billion or 0.20 per cent to N55.716 trillion from N55.605 trillion it closed on Friday.

The NGX All Share Index declined by 69.34 basis points to 98132.15 points from 98201.49 points traded the previous day.

The year to date return stood at 31.24 per cent as the NGX printed 22 gainers against 21 losers.

An analysis of the trading showed that Afriprudential led gainers table, increasing 10 per cent to close at N10.45 per share, Cutix Plc followed with a gain of 9.90 per cent to close at N5.66 per unit, Eterna Plc gained 9.88 per cent to close at N17.80 per share, Oando Plc gained 9.83 per cent to close at N22.35 per share, Custodian Insurance up by 9.80 per cent to close at N11.20 per share.

On the contrary, Caverton Business Solutions topped losers chart, declining by 10 per cent to close at N1.35 per share, Wapic Insurance trailed with a loss of N9.30 per cent to close at N0.78 per unit, ABC Transport dipped by 9.09 per cent to close at N0.70 per unit, Neimeth international Pharmaceutical down by 7.65 per cent to close at N32.35 per share.

The result further showed that United Bank for Africa led market activities with 69.055 million shares valued at N1.455 billion, FBNHoldings followed with a drop of 24.941 million shares cost N512.400 million, AccessCorp traded 23.890 million shares worth N441.430 million, Universal insurance traded 22.193 million shares valued at N7.030 million while GTCO Plc exchanged 20.991 million shares valued at N924.893 million.
