The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has reemphasized the Corps’ strategic role in strengthening the pillars of national security, particularly through its growing involvement in aviation security—one of the most sensitive domains in Nigeria’s security landscape.

Delivering a keynote address at the Aviation Security Stakeholders’ Engagement held at the NSCDC National Headquarters, Thursday in Abuja, the Commandant General highlighted the critical link between aviation safety and national stability.

Professor Audi noted that national security is a shared responsibility that requires unwavering synergy among all stakeholders. He stressed that the NSCDC, by virtue of its mandate, plays a vital role in securing aviation infrastructure, gathering actionable intelligence, conducting surveillance, and responding to emergencies—functions that directly contribute to the stability and safety of the nation.

The CG asserted that “Security is everybody’s business, and aviation security is national security. We must build stronger alliances, standardise our operations, and proactively engage in intelligence-led strategies.”

He urged all stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, security outfits, and aviation partners, to commit to sustained collaboration and information sharing in the face of evolving threats.

The engagement provided a platform to strengthen cooperation and ensure a unified national strategy for the protection of critical assets and public safety across Nigeria’s aviation corridors.
