Remi Tinubu inaugurates 1,000-capacity Gombe State College of Nursing Sciences

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the newly built ultra-modern 1000-capacity Gombe State College of Nursing Sciences, describing it as a bold investment in human capital development and a major step in addressing the shortage of skilled healthcare workers in the state.
The state-of-the-art facility, constructed by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya administration, is expected to significantly expand opportunities for training qualified nurses and midwives, thereby strengthening the state’s healthcare delivery system.
Commissioning the project, Senator Tinubu commended the foresight of the Governor in building a larger, better-equipped institution capable of producing highly skilled health professionals.
“This College is an investment in the future of healthcare in Gombe and Nigeria at large. By training nurses and midwives here, the state is building the human capital needed to save lives and improve healthcare outcomes,” she said.
The first lady commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for prioritizing health and education, stressing that the project is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda for youth empowerment and national development.
She urged students of the College to seize the opportunity to acquire skills that would not only serve their communities but also uplift the entire health system.
“I encourage the students to approach your training with excellence because the future of healthcare in this state rests on your shoulders,” she added.
Governor Yahaya, speaking at the event, reiterated his administration’s determination to strengthen the health sector by investing in infrastructure, training and human resources.
He emphasized that the College will serve as a centre of excellence in producing professionals who can tackle the challenges of maternal, child and general healthcare services.
The occasion was graced by the Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, heads of various agencies and institutions in the health sector, among others.
