Security guard in court for allegedly stealing car parts, money
A 27-year-old man, Samuel Samson, on Tuesday pleaded not guilty before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, to charges of stealing motor parts and cash sum both valued N645,000.
The defendant, a security guard is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Kemi Oladapo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 12, at about 6.30 a.m. at Spectrum house in Ibadan.
She alleged that the defendant, being the security guard on duty at the premises, vandalised five vehicles parked within the premises.
The defendant was alleged to have stolen car AC condenser, brain box, radiators, among other car parts valued N570,000.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant also stole a cash sum of N75,000 belonging to one Mr Seinde Oguniyi, the Managing Director of the company.
According to the prosecution, the defendant was arrested following police investigation.
The offence contravenes the provisions of section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Feb.11, 2026, for hearing.
