Security operatives whisk passengers aboard Air Peace London flight over dangerous behaviour

Three passengers aboard an Air Peace London-Lagos flight were arrested by security operatives upon their arrival at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos for what the airline and security sources termed dangerous and unruly behaviours while still airborne.

The duo of Adedigba Adewale and Ashibogu Magnus forcefully upgraded themselves into the Business Class cabin of the aircraft from the original Economic seats they purchased having bullied their ways into the section of the plane and refused to return despite multiple directives by the crew.

A third person, identified as Iwonze Benjamin later joined the duo in consuming a bottle of rum they had brought onboard in sharp disregard to safety instructions thus causing security apprehension among fellow travelling passengers.

The airlines explained that their behaviour raised security and safety concerns among passengers and crew, prompting the captain to leave the cockpit to assess the situation personally before retreating to the cockpit as a precautionary measure.

Despite efforts to de-escalate the situation, the unruly passengers remained defiant, creating a tense atmosphere onboard as they further engaged in disruptive behaviours that endangered the safety of the flight, its passengers and crew, Air Peace officials and security sources told our correspondent in Lagos.

Recognizing the potential threat, the flight crew notified security agencies in Nigeria ahead of arrival. Upon landing, law enforcement officials were on the ground to apprehend the individuals who were taken into custody for further investigations.

In an electronic statement, Air Peace reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and adherence to global aviation standards as the airline emphasized that any form of disruptive behaviours will not be tolerated and assured the public of its continuous efforts to uphold the highest levels of security and order on all flights.

It praised its crew for their professionalism in handling the threat to safety in a way that prevented a worse event from occurring.
