TCN to boost Lagos power supply with 7 new transformers

In a bid to enhance the power supply in Lagos State, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has received seven new power transformers.
The transformers, with capacities ranging from 60MVA to 100MVA, were recently delivered to the Akangba 330/132kV Transmission Substation.
The TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, in a statement she issued on Thursday in Abuja, said the new transformers are part of the ongoing TCN/World Bank power projects and are set to be distributed to various substations across the state.
“The Alausa, Akoka, Maryland, Itire, and Amuwo 132/33kV Transmission Substations will each receive one transformer, while the Akoko and Amuwo Substations will receive two transformers each.
“The installation of these transformers is expected to significantly increase TCN’s transmission capacity and subsequently improve the power supply in Lagos State”, Mbah said.
She expressed the company’s commitment to providing stable and reliable power to Nigerians, adding that the delivery of the transformers is a step towards achieving that goal.
