Tinubu appoints Abba Abubakar Aliyu as MD REA

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Abba Abubakar Aliyu as the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the Heads of the Agency’s Departments.

Director, Information & Public Relations in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Segun Imohiosen, the appointment takes effect from 23rd January, 2025, and it is for an initial period of four years in accordance with the extant provisions of the Certain Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders.

The Heads of the Departments are: Engr. Umar Abdullahi Executive Director, Technical Services; Ayoade Gboyega Executive Director, Corporate Services; Hon. Engr. Doris Uboh Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund; and Olufemi Akinyelure Head, Nigeria Electrification Program (Project Management Unit).

“Before his appointment, Aliyu served as General Manager at the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc and as Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Power on Policy.

“The President tasks the MD and his team to bring their wealth of experience to bear in providing access to reliable electric power supply to rural dwellers,” the statement added.
