The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji has applauded the collaboration between the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) and the Electric Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC) for their commitment to innovation.
Nnaji, who said this at the commissioning of the Electric Vehicle Charging Station in Abuja, added that the partnership will drive the sustenance of the energy ecosystem in Nigeria.
In his goodwill message, the Minister commended the Director General for his unwavering dedication to achieve the mandate of the Commission by partnering with private sector such as Electric Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC) and other stakeholders.
While expressing his joy at commissioning the project, an elated Nnaji said the commissioning of the electric vehicle charging station is crucial to enhancing Nigeria’s transition to sustainable energy solutions.
“As the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, I am proud to witness this bold stride towards cleaner mobility, a direct reflection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renew Hope Agenda and Nigeria ‘s commitment to reducing dependence on fossil fuels, enhancing energy security, and promoting green innovations,” he said.
Describing the project as “more than just an infrastructure milestone, it’s a testament to our nation’s resolve to embrace technological advancement in energy and transportation by fostering strategic partnerships like this between the Energy Commission of Nigeria and Electric Motor Vehicle Company.”
This he said, “has pave the way for more sustainable, eco-friendly future, reducing carbon emissions and aligning Nigeria with global trends in electric mobility.
“As we commission this charging station today, let us collectively work towards expanding this initiative across the nation, ensuring that electric mobility becomes a viable, widespread reality in Nigeria.”
He assured that the Ministry remained committed to policies and initiatives that will drive technological advancements, attract investments, and create sustainable employment in the green economy.
He congratulated the Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi for the pioneering achievement saying that “I look forward to seeing more ground breaking innovations that will solidify Nigeria’s place as a leader in clean energy solutions.”
