Trading on the floor of Nigerian Exchange opened on a negative note Monday, declining by N81 billion as investors embarked on profit taking activities.

Market capitalisation of listed equities fell by 0.1 per cent to N160.362 trillion from N160.443 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 126.09 basis points to 250204.83 points from 250330.92 it closed on Friday.

The market breath was negative with 32 gainers against 36 decliners, bringing year to date return to 60.85 per cent

An analysis of the investment showed that Oando Plc led gainers table with 10 per cent to close at N51.70 per share, May and Baker followed with a gain of 9.94 per cent to close at N52.00 per unit, TransExpress added 9.92 per cent to close at N7.76 per share, ABC Transport gained 9.98 per cent to close at N6.89 per unit while International General Insurance up by 9.32 per cent to close at N3.05 per share.

Conversely, NCR and Zichis Plc topped losers chart, dropping by 9.99 per cent each to close at N161.20 and N26.49 per unit respectively. Berger Paint trailed with a loss of 9.97 per cent to close at N152.10 per unit, UACN declined by 9.95 percent to close at N180.05 per share and IMG fell by 9.93 per cent to close at N38.10 per unit.

Volume of trades declined by 283.537 million, representing 26.16 per cent as investors traded 800.463 million shares against 1.084 billion traded the previous day. Value of trades went down by 16.36 per cent to settle at N37.045 billion in 87096 deals.

NSLTech led market activities with 33.821 million shares valued at N30.474 million, Daar Communications followed with account of 30.043 million shares cost N775.359 million, Access Holdings Company exchanged 30.043 million shares cost N775.359 million while Jaiz Bank traded 29.769 million shares worth N275.855 million while United Bank for Africa exchanged 22.377 million shares cost N986.268 million.
