Domestic equities gain N101bn amid profit taking
The local equities market on Thursday closed northward, appreciating by N101 billion, despite profit taking activities experiencing in the market.
Market capitalization of listed equities appreciated by 0.06 per cent to N157.150 trillion from N157.049 trillion it closed on Wednesday.
The NGX All Share Index also increased by 155.03 basis points to 242378.13 points from 242223.10 points reported the previous year.
Volume of trades up by 864.670 million, representing 161.79 per cent as investors traded 1.399 trillion shares against 534.450 million shares reported the previous day.
The value of trades also increased by 21.81 per cent to settle at N27.14 billion.
Although the market breath was negative with 22 advancers and 30 decliners, gains in the shares of Zenith, SeplatEnergy, NGXgroup, AccessCorp and others wipe out losses recorded in RTBriscoe, Champion Breweries, International Breweries among others, bringing year to date return to 55.76 per cent.
An analysis of the investment showed that Seplat Energy led gainers table with 10 per cent to close at N14907.00 per unit, JapaulGold followed with a gain of 9.83 per cent to close at N2.57, Tantalizer Plc added 8.29 per cent to close at N3.79 per unit, NSLTech added 7.94 per cent to close at N0.68 per share, Access Holdings Company gained 5.66 per cent to close at N28.00 per unit.
On the contrary, RTBriscoe and Aradel led gainers table with 10 per cent to close at N8.10 and N1413.00 per share respectively.
Champion Breweries trailed with a loss of 9.91 per cent to close at N10.00 per unit, International Breweries down by 9.80 per cent the close at N3.25 per share.
Transactions in the shares of FTG Insurance led market activities with 1.030 billion shares valued at N1.494 billion, Mutual Benefits followed with 59.554 million shares worth N167.812 million, Access Holdings company traded 28.569 million shares cost N791.713 million per unit.
GTCO Plc exchanged 25.636 million shares valued at N3.320 billion, AIICO Insurance traded 13.532 million shares worth N47.852 million.
