Equities market shed N1.006trn
Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Thursday closed negative, declining by N1.006 billion.
Market capitalization of listed equities depreciated by 0.63 per cent to N158.338 trillion from N159.344 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index declined by 1617.91 basis points to 245362.26 points from 246980.17 points recorded on Wednesday.
The market breath was negative with 16 gainers against 44 decliners, bringing year to date return to 57.69 per cent.
An analysis of the trading for the day showed that May and Baker led gainers table with 9.87 per cent to close at N42.85 per unit, Legend Internet followed with a gain of 8.64 per cent to close at N4.40 per share, Daar Communications added 7.32 per cent to close at N1.76 per share, Sterling Bank gained 6.67 per cent to close at N8.00 per unit, Sovereign Trust Insurance up by 5.73 per cent to close at N2.03 per share.
Conversely, Tripple G topped losers’ chart, declining by 10 per cent to close at N2.88 per unit, Lasaco trailed with a loss of 9.92 per cent to close at N2.88 per share, Lasaco Insurance trailed with a drop of 9.92 per cent to close at N2.18 per share, C&I Leasing sheds 9.84 per cent to close at N5.50 per share, Mutual Benefits down by 9.80 per cent to N3.22 per share. TransExpress fell by 9.03 per cent to close at N2.82 per unit.
Volume of trades increased by 1.343 billion, representing 176.990 per cent as investors traded 2.102 billion shares against 758.87 million traded the previous day. Value of transactions up by 598.26 per cent to settle at N230.83 per units.
Transactions in the shares of FirstHoldco led market activities with account of 1.556 billion shares valued at N194.373 billion, Access Holdings Company followed with account of 34.069 million shares worth N911.508 million, Zenith Bank traded 32.980 million shares cost N4.025 billion EllahLakes traded 30.238 million shares worth N257.940 million, Fidelity Bank exchanged 28.694 million shares cost N615.168 million
